Carruther's proposal, a general committee of the Captain Cook memorial has been formed by the Empire League with the Prince- of Wales as chairman, Earl P.ra^ev- treasurer, the Lord Mayor, Lords Rosebery, Cromer, and Rothschild, Messrs Asquith and Balfour and either members. Seventeen ex-Gover-nors and the Agents-General represent .Australasia.
