COUNTRY
(Per Press Associat'on.)
.WELLINGTON, Maivh 4
j Sir Robert Stout (Chief Justice),, ac■companied by Lady Stout, and Mis Stout, Jeft for England yeste'day afternoon by tiie steamer Marama. At Sydney the pr.rcy will join the Moldavia which takes her departure for London on Wednesday next. Sir Robert is uncertain whether he will go on to London in the Moldavia or k»av.e the vrssol at Marseilles. His journey from there will depend upon the state of his health and the weather. While at Home Sir Robert intends to spend some time with his three sons, two of whom are at Guy's Hospital. London, and the third at Cambridge University. He. will also v.sit the place of his birth in the north of Scotland, and hopes to be present at tho Darwin centenary celebrations at Cambridge in June. It is his intention, if his health permits to go to Geneva early in July at the time of the University celebrations there. Sir Robert Stout, who has not enjoyed ,£ood health of late, has obtained a year's leave of absence, and it is confidently hoped that the rest and the medical attention ho will receive at Home will result in I.is recovering that full measure of health, and strength he has fo long possessed. The nature of his ailment, however, makei complete rest, especially physical rest and change, imperative to one constituted as Sir Robert is. With such an. aclivo mind and one who has worked so very hard all his life, it will be very difficult to remain ide for any length of time, and it is recognised that rest can hs best secured n midst fresh scenes and surroundings. As to his work here, Sir Robert states that the consolidation of the statutes relating to native affairs is practically finished. It just needs a little revising. In fact it would have been completely out of hand if the Chief Justice had been able to work" during the past few days. Any final revision that may bo1 nreessary will no doubt be done by tl:e Crown Law Department.
