The meeting of the Aotea Board, adjourned till Tuesday, March 2nd, will be further adjourned to Friday,-sth.

The annual meeting of the Wanganui Association Football Club has been called for to-morrow avening. A lady's bicycle (nearly new) is advertised, for sale cheap in our Wanted coloumn. The Horticultural Show on Wednesday and Thursday next will include the finest display of nurserymen's and florists' goods ever made in Wanganui. This in itself will be worth seeing.

Sneak thieves made themselves at home in Mrs W. H. G. Foster's orchard at Eastbrook last week, a crop of fine peaches and nectarines having been stolen.

The entries for the New Zealand Marathon race to be run at Auckland on May 6th total 42, four being received from Christchurch, *w° from Weiington, and two from Ashburton. The total entries for the sports amount to about 300. •

The time for receiving entries for the Horticultural Show has been extended till 11 o'clock to-morrow evening. They may be handed in to the secretary, Mr F. R. H. Wildman, a well-known Maori, was found dead in the river at Onepuhi on Friday (says the "Advocate ")• It appears that he injured his hand when working on a stack and went to the river to wash it. A Press wire says that the regulations requiring the production of certificates with fruit. shipped to Auckland from the Islands will be strictly enforced from April J.st.. Inwspeaking to a "New Zealand Herald" reporter, Mr Ct: Harnett, local fruit inspector, stated - that since the regulations were gazetted some months ago shipments of Island fruits arriving in Auckland have been landed in excellent condition. The s^. Tofua brought 4798 cases and 226 bunches of bananas, 38 cases of piries, ~. and a number of cases of mangoes. The bananas and pines were on examination found to be in perfect condition, but about 10 cases of mangoes were discovered to be infected by fruit fly, and were condemned.

The City Band gave their promised concert at the Hospital yesterday afternoon. The concert proved a very successful one, and attracted a good attendance. The band's playing was very favourably, commented on, and . theselections, , "Lortzing" and, "Masaniello," received effective: treatment, especially considering this class of music is new to the band. Mr Buckley deserves every credit for the way he is bringing the band on. Other items on the programme were "Sandon" and "Calvary" (the last named a cornet 5616). Both tese rwere well rendered. TJie marches were also very well played, and on thej^hole the band gave a good performance, and showed a decided improvement on any previous concert. Tho band intend repeating the programme iv the Rotunda at an _early date.
