AN AUSPICIOUS OPENING
(Per Press Association.) FEILDING, February 2. There was perfect weather to-day for the opening day of the Feilding Slioav. ■.Largo entries came forward in ail classes. The principal, prize winners were:— I Maiden Hunters.—Miss J. Fergusson z Quartermaster 1, W. Taylor's Kackless 2. Saddle Horses—mare most suitable for breeding hacks.--W. Wilkie's Laly Jewel. Mare most suitable for breeding carriage horses. —Lockhard's Meda. In fat cattle W. Mills (Cheltenham) Mas the most successful. '' Pedigree Cattle : Herefords —G. C Wheeler first in every class. Ayrshires. —-W. C. Bensemann, S. Stnnden, and W. P. Harre divided the prizes. 1 Dairy Cattle. —S. R. Lancaster led the prize list. Champion challenge shield for most points in Rumney classes won by S. Stnnden. The points prize for fat sheep clashes went to F.-S. Mcßae. Points prise for fat lambs. —Hugh Burrell. Points prize for farmers' classes. —W. E. Baker. 'Points iprize for. -freezing sheep and la mbs classes F.-S.. McJR-a c. In pigs, Monkton and Fetch, E. Wh'te and M. Desmond were the most successful. For factory butter the Cheltenham Dairy Co. were first, and the Awahuri Dairy- Co. second;
