Aftrr refreshing showers we are haying lovely summer weather. Grass h plentiful and all stock in splendid condition. ;
Our school broke up for the Christmas Holidays on Friday, and re-opens on February Ist. The breaking up was celebrated by the schnol concert, after which the prizes were distributed by Mr McKay. The concert this year was voted to be one of the best given b;^ the s hcol which is famed for its entertainments. The programme' consisted of 25 items all of which were rendered in oxcollont style. The marches, action songs, and fairy dances of ■ the little tots wore miT-h appreciated., and loudly applauded. Tho sash drill by the renior girls and the dumbbell exercises by senior.boys-were* a pleasure to s?e. Theacting in some of the dialogues was far superior to that often performed by adults At the conclusion Mr McKayproposed a vMe of thanks to the tev ch?r«, Mr and Mrs Matthews, for tho creditable way the performance bad be°n given. Guy; recitation, "Little Lctty," A. Rankin; action cong, "Tli3 Fairy Ring," Juniors; recitation, "The Clucking Hen," H. Gill; dialogue, "The Debaters," R. Osborne, L. Gill, W. Hunt, H. Pawson, and L. Gould ; "The March of the Fairies," little tots; song, ''How lovely are the Woods," Seniors-; recitation, "How Bill Adams Won the Battle- of Waterloo," C. Hunt; sketch, tl Curing an Invalid," J. Olsen, M. Stewart. R. Heldt, A. Osborne, and J. Cnmmerfield; song, "A Ship, a Sailing," Juniors: dumbbells. Senior Boys; "A Country' Meeting Talk " (repeated, from last year by special request), about 40 pupils took part; recitation, "Mamma's' Kisses," E. Pawson _; song, "Advance New Zealand,"'Sanio'rs; recitation, "What the Birds say," 7 Boys and 2 Girls; sash drill, Senior Girls: "Fairy land," S. T.; song, "Snow-white," Seniors.
