MANAWATU R.C.'S SUMMER MEETING.
TO-MORROW'S MEETING
RECORD ATTENDANCE EXPECTED
(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., December 21. Prospects are very bright for the Manawatu Racing Club's Christmas Carnival, which commences on Wednesday next, and everything points to the meeting being the most successful yet held by the Club. This is the more satisfactory, considering the progressive policy of the club and the large stakes offered, the Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes of 1000 soys being the largest stake, for a classical race offered in the Dominion. The Manawatu Cup (of 650 soys) and Palmerston North Stakes (of 500 soys) are also included in the programme. The course is in splendid order, and the lawn and flower gardens are looking at their best. The town is already filling "with visitors, and the attendance on the .first day promises to bo very large. Lord Plunket and a Government House party will be present on each day of the meeting. A iield of ten is expected to saddle up for the Palmerston Stakes on Wednesday, some of the best blood in the Dominion being represented.
The final payments for the Manawatu Cup are as follows: —Apa 8.11, Ko-pu 8.3, Tangimoana 8.0, Bourraeque 7.13, Muskarrv 7.13, Glenculloch 7.12, Moloch 7.11, Riflemaid 7.3, White Lie 6.13. Arclight 0.13, Truganini 6.12, Carissima 5.7, Bine Ribbon 6.7. -
