HEREFORDS
The Hereford classes contain scnv> magnificent specimens of this breed. Mr G. F. Moore, who may bo. said to h.avo a. monopoly of the pure strain of Horc fords, is the chief exhibitor pnd priz?-wiuner. The aninnls shown by him are without doubt beauties and._ as a competent judge remarked, their superiors could not be found—certainly not in New Zealand. Ah is well-known,-Mr Moore some time ajr-> purrhased t'io valuable herd owned by Mr Stuckey, of the Wfiirarapn, who imnorted a herd of purebreds from Home. Ensign, who was awarded first a>-.d champion, is a. magnificent animal. He was bred by Mr J. Edwards, of Herefordshire, and wa-9 one of Stuckey"s imported herd referred to above. Ensign was first «.nd chnmuion at Palmevston North and would hold his own in any show rinse- Mr O. ■M. Curri^'s I?e<xent was given second place. In tin olass for bulls, calvod pinoo July Ist. IPO7. Eclipse, a son of Ensign, carried off the honours. Mr Moor^ carried off the championslwp with Lydia, a heifor oalved since -July Ist, 1907. This heifer, who was awarded Ist and champion nfc Palmorston North, is a conspicuously fine animal. "A heifer of great merit," was the Judge/s criticism. Mr Moore?s Almond -list, was awarded first prize in
tho class for yearling heifers, the Judge's comment being "a beautiful beast." In the class for cow with calf at foot, Mr Moore was again successful in earning off the first prize, beating Mr Donald Ross's Amethyst. Tho Judge's remarks were: "Two good animals, the first—a younger animalshowing tho most quality.
