BOOKBINDERS' UNION AGREEMENT.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7 An agreement between the Bookbinders Lnion and the city employers wasannounced to-day in their dispute be- -. fore the Arbitration Court. The main terms of the agreement are as lollows: Hours of labour to remains as at present,, minimum wage and overtime as at present, under-rate workers to remain as at present except that application should be made to the chief" Inspector of Awards in • Wellington- - ./-? within a radius of twenty-five iniles7;in-?t —* -£tead of to the chairman',of-the'"Cofi^- r'^ cihation Board; apprentice Court's- V* usnal non-indenture clause, with other- '"■" provisions as, at present; preferenceand control of establishment to remain as at present; journeymen's work—thefollowing to be considered as journeymen's work: bookbinding to be the for- x warding of letterpress and stationerybooks marblmg, gildng, blocking, finishing, case-making, pocket-book and" wallet work, making joints; and mounting, setting and varnishing of maps orplatos on boards or calico.
The definition is not to include dxtrafc the books, and the like, or quarterbound wire or thread-stitched 1 flush! work, with or without turned-in. sidesw or wrapped-, work. : , ~; y
Cutting.—All work in connections; with bookbinding as defined above. ' Paper Ruling.-All paper ruling, ex--cept feeding^ arid flying, provided that, notwithstanding anything contained iit clause 6 relating to apprentices, any employer or firm having two or more--paper ruling machine? in the establish--meht,. and employing, a journeyman^ paper ruler shall have the right to em- ; ploy an ektra apprentice who may be^ employed at bookbinding for the purrpose of filling in time.
