•It is with sincere regret we announce tho death of Mr Duhcan Corby, who passed away suddenly' on Saturday at tho ripe old age of 77' years. The deceased had been ailing ior some time, but his death, which was due to heart disease, came unexpectedly. The late Mr Corby/was born a^Blyth, Northumberland, and in. his early days was a sailor. In 1854 he went to the Victorian diggings aria subsequently came across: to the. Nelson district in search of gold. Shortly/afterwards the Oalifornian rush set in, and Mr Coiby was one who hastened there. He next went to Otago, being one of the first to take part m tho rush.
