NOTICE OF MOTION.

That the Board draws the attention of the Minister for Education to the fact that there is a general desire on' the part of the Boards of the Dominion, that the Decalogue ba exhibited on the walls of school buildings; that there is no Board fund available for that purpose; that tho Minister be respectfully .requested to* provide a sufficient number of the ten commandments to serve the class rooms of the whoio of the ■schools in tho Dominion; and that a copy of this resolution bo transmitted to other Boards. Herewith ploa-e find decision of the following Boards on this qucsfcios:— Hawke's Bay Board reports: Any ! school committee has TII3 permission of tho Board to exhibit the ten commandments in class rooms. Auckland Board: Offers no objection to copies of the ten commandments being displayed in schools. Timaru, South Canterbury Board: I? willing ..to allow ten commandment sheets to be exhibited if committees are ag'-Gpable. CM ago Board: Piopose to obtain legal opinion. Christchurch, North Canterbury Boord: Approves of th? ten command"--niPiits? hchi£ hung, leaving with school comii-ittros to act if they feel disposed. \Vp.vtto.nd Boani: Decided to ask Government Printer for samples and prices of the Decalogue. Groy Education Board: Advise that leligous instruction bo given outside school hours, but prefer to leavo it with committee. . ■-• . Herewith fin 1 Judg-* Kettle's remarks n* Auckland on the 22nd tilt., in which ho mentioned during a juvenile crime case: "Tho decrease of regard for the touts of the Decalogue by young people ... is appalling."
