(United Press Association.—Copyright.) : Received September 3, 5.15 p.m. MELBOURNE, 'September 3. There was a large attendance at the Burns-Lang fight' yesterday. Before the fight commenced Squires challenged the winner. < . . ■■'. The first round was uneventful, but in the second Lang met Burns straight on the chin and sent the champion down for nine seconds, the round ending in favour of Lang.

At the end of the third round Lang looked tired, Burns keeping his opponent constantly on the move.

The fourth round held a lot or trouble for Lang, as he was sent down twice in succession, and only caught the champion one heavy jolt with his right. Burns's iti-fighting was too much for the Victorian.

In the fifth round Lang received a series of quick left 'hand jabs. Then Burns dropped him for five seconds, and shortly.after floored him for eight seconds.' Out of a quick exchange Burns slipped, and was down for a couple of seconds, but found Lang's chin with a heavy right-hander, and his' opponent lay prone for four seconds, when the round closed.

In the sixth round Burns had Lang dancing round the v ring. He^ then cornered him and planted a series of left hand jabs on the faos and body. Twice in succession Bourns dropped him-r-the first time for, eight .seconds and the second for nine, the-latter punch sendi ing Lang through the rdp^: -■:;'': ':)- •
