By Telegraph

LEVIN, September 2. Kilpatriok, Paton, and Aitken stood put of the Wanganui team, which was strengthened by Gill and Dave Dustin. Wanganui won the toss, and started with the sun behind them and the wind a little in their favour. Play centred for a time in Horowhenua's 25, till a iroe kick brought relief. The Reds then took a hand in attacking, a good run by Cook being just stopped in time. Wanganui then took the ball back, and a splendid rush ended in the Reds forcing. Give and take play followed, which was rather uninteresting, till Winiata secured and by a splendid run scored behind the posts. The try was converted.

After the kick out Wanganui took a turn, but Horowhenua rushed the ball back, and a forward scramble ended in a score, which was unconverted. Wanganui then roused up, and rushed down tho field, which from a penalty Abbott landed a fine goal. Horowhenua retaliated, and their wing three-quarter scored in a fair position, but the try was unconverted. Shortly after this Suiter was.disabled, having to retire, and Kilpatrick replaced him. ;

Soon afterwards, Wanganui livened up, and some good play on both sides ensued. Abbott secured the ball in midfield, and beating several opponents scored a good try behind' the posts,, which' he converted himself.

Horowhenua then pressed hard, but Wanganui returned to the attack, and from, a penalty Abbott equalised the scores.

Froni this out Horowhenua pressed hard, and were nearly over several times, but Wariganui managed to keep them out till the call of time, and the game ended in a draw—ll all. Horowhenua played a solid game. Thp backs were particularly fast, but their forwards tired in the second spell Wanganui did not get going in the first spell, but in the second played with more dash.
