J. H. NIXON AND CO.'S STOCK REPORT.

We held our Wanganui stock sale on Wednesday, 26th hist., when we yarded some 240 head of cattle and 3400 sheep —a considerable increase on advertised numbers. There, was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk throughout, the bulk of the yarding changing hands under the hammer. The sheep consisted chiefly of hoggets, which found a ready sale. With the exception of one pen of wethers and one pen of ewes, we quitted the whole of the sheep. The cattle, which consisted chiefly of dairy and store cows sold readily at prices well up to late rates. MiLeineweber's dairy cows elicited keen competition, and realised the satisfactory average of £5 4s. We quote:—> Sheep.—Fat wethers 15s 6d to 16s 6d 2 and 4-tooth wethers 13s 2d, 2 tooth wethers 10s 3d, wether hoggets 7s 9d to 8s 3d, ewe hoggets (good) 10s 2d to 11s.Id, others 7s 9d, 7s lid, asd 9s lOd, mixed hoggets (good) 10s Id to 10s fid, others 6s <3d to 7s, cull do. 4s 2d to 5s 6d, 4 and 5-year ewes in lamb 10s to 10s Bd, cull do. 6s 6d to 8s Id. Cattle.—Forward empty cows £3 3s 6d to £3 18s, store cows £2 5s 6d to £2 1/s, others £1 16s to £2, springing heilers £4 10s to £5, others £3 to £3 10s, 2-year empty heifers £1 9s to £2 Is, 2-yoar steers £2 19s, cows in calf £3 Is to £3 10s, others £2 to £2 7s 6d to £8, avorago £5 4s.
