ARRIVAL OF AN INDIAMAN.
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, August 30. The British-India steamer Itaura, from Calcutta direct, arrived at Wellington yesterday. She brings a cargo of 3695 tons of gunny bags, bone-meal, and oil, 1328 tons of which is for Wellington, and the remainder for Auckland. There are eleven coolie pa&sengers on board, who are bound for the Fiji plantations. A coolie child died of bronchitis on the run down. The crew numbers 100., which includes firemen. They are all coloured men. No trouble has been experienced with them, and, so far. as could be learned, they are untouched, by the disaffection which is supposed to be fairly general in Bengal. The political trouble in any case did not affect the shipping at Calcutta. There were a good many vessels in port when the Itaura: left that were waiting for charters, the shipping: business being unusually dull in* India at tho moment.
