BRITISH OLD AGE PENSIONS.
MR LLOYD GEORGE LEARNS IN
GERMANY
(United Press Association—Copyright.) Received August 28, 12.20 a.m.
LONDON, August 27
Mr Lloyd George has authorised the statement that he has not arrived at a definite conclusion regarding the only object of his visit to Germany, namely, to gee whether a contributory system could; as far as invalidity and sickness are concerned, be grafted to the British old age-pension scheme. He was tremendously impressed by the perfection of the system whereby Germany raises 34 millions sterling for meeting invalidity, old age, and sickness pensions, while the State's contribution merely covers working expenses. When clerks and widows are shortly included, the total will be 53 million per annum.
