HIS DOINGS IX THE NORTH

AUCKLAND, April 5. Tho Hon. James Carroll, Native Minister, and Mr. Te Houheu Tukmo will probably remain in Auckland for two or three days, as it is probable that he may yet visit the North of Auckland before he returns to "Wellington. The Native Minister has been asked to attend a meeting of Maoris in tho North for the purpose of discussing the land question, end is wishful to do so provided suitable dates can be arranged.
As regards the Waharoa native meeting, the Chief Taingakawa informed the Native Minister that they had practically arranged about all their blocks of land and tho manner in which they are to ba cut up, and he promised to* submit all the information requhed by Mr. Carroll in due course, the Minister promising to supply si ny plans that were wanted Taingakawa made it clear that his people were averse to selling their, land, as they had not too much, but what they did iiot require they were willing to lease. They wished the law to help them to improve their estates and better themselves.
