On Saturday afternoon four out of the five heats in the second round of the above handicap "were; got off. All the races were of an interesting nature. D. Cprby (scratch) beat W. This was a fine race until nearing the Baths, when Dustin's steering became somewhat erratic, and Corby gradually drew ahead.; Both men" pulled well, especially the winner, whose clean, machine-like work was the subject of much favourable comment.
. R. H. Allen (12secs.) beat G. Lambert (3secs) by three lengths. The winner's start proved too much for his opponent, trho had bad luck in so far that he had; during the earlier part of the journey, to avoid an oil launch, and he struck a floating snag when nearing the &roin.
D. Dixon (4secs) beat IT .Prideaux (Sseos.) by a length. The latter, who did not'make the best use of his handicap, being slow in getting off the anark. stuck to his task gamely, but,was unable to again head his more' experienced opponent.
B. Prideaux (6secs.) beat C. Poyhter (Bsecs.) by a length. These competitors were -very evenly matched, and they fought out every foot of the way until: Hearing the winning post, whore they irero both completely rowed 'out,, and simply paddled past' the post.
