KAIERAU FOOTBALL CLUB.
The following is the Seventeenth Annual Report of the Kaierau Football Club, to be held '■ on Friday evojiing next:—
The membership of the Club exceeded that of tbo preyious year totalling 70 active members,. wJiioli is one of the best endorsements t':e Club could have, showing that it was in a flourishing and thriving condition. : For a club to have ' a largo number of members is, to our mihdia, niiuoh better than to have a ]>rofitabla b>lance-she&t, and shews that the; Club w-ill not b& without plenty of material to draw' upon for its future Senior team. : .
:. SENIORS.—At the bagininin'g of the: season your Ssnior team had every prospe:t of again', winning the Senior Cup; but owing to loss of players through ac•■■idents and sickiv?ss, the tenm.^ns it wp-re, bocanio disjointel, and had to bo content with being runnors-up to fche T'irato FootbTll Club. Taking everything into consi delation, however, your tram in the har_ circumstqneo^ unc'or which thfv laboured came throiuh the feas"n t-reoitablv. and finish,'l with the ,good rr-rord of 6 matches won, 1 drawn, and 2 lost.
JUNIORS.—TIiis team, wliicli had "won tho Junior Oiln for 3 years in suc-res-ion, finished 3rd in theoompetition. Tliev cannot, however. l-_ Llamed so much for this as th-> ta\inj; o? men fi'oii their ranks to fill vacancies in the in the Seniors retarded their progregss, and broke up their combination. 'The Juniors it should 'bo borne in mind requiro a great deal more attention than even the Seniors. Seniors taken as a whole .are men vrhm understand what they are required to do in oider that their team may 'I>3 -successful. With younger players there is too great a ten.dencry to ignore form. One player may have pace, another may bo a good kick, and another a. hard worker, but unless one and all study form they cannot expect that success will lie theiis • THTRDS.-The Thirds played pluckily but tlio same remarks made with regard to the Juniors apply with equal fores to them. Everyone who aspires to football fume must begin at the bottom and work up. No voting player who only turn-, out to play for his team on "a match day con ever hope that representative honours -will be his. We hope, therefore, that the preceding .comments will ba taken to heart by^our voun" p.ayers, and this season will see" them bring the name of their Club once more lusfi up on tho list.
I REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS._>fp J. Hogan was picked to ]>lay in the . v. South Inland match an.l Mr. ;A. Giiicott chesen as emergency. .The forirer also brought honour to the Club by subsequently being picked as a New i Zealand Representative to tour AustraI lia. Prior to his departure, he'was t_ii- , dered a sond-off in, Mr. DustinV rooms and as a mark of appreciation in which" he was held by Club members was presented1 with a travelling rug. Mr. A. 'Gruscott Avas cihosen^ to'represent the combined WellinsApn, Province versus i Ne-A- Zealand, antULddel fresh iaureh to himself and Club.^
"\Yjth regard «to the Wanganui R^prehad a 'large qifotn in all the, 4 B_p. matches, and five memI>er3 went with tlie team to Auckland to play Shy tli© Banfurly Sliield.
