'. 2 Tho Unions (Ohristensen and1 Crouch) also started, but took no part in a very fcougihi fight for supremacy, the Wellington men! just getting home after a dingdong go. ■ v ■ SENIOR FOURS. Corby, bow 2 One of the finest and most exciting races witnessed on the Wanganui River. The Wanganui R.C had a oreAV in this event, but apparently the pace, was too hot, 'for they soon dropped out of the contest. _ The Unions~AA'ere holding a good -position on the eastern side of the river, close alongside their rivals, but the wash from an up-river boat upset them somoAvhat, causing their craft to roll and generally unsettle the crew. But, they settled down in,'grim earnest to fight'the race to a finish, and valiantly every . one in the boat responded to repeated calls by the stroke; however, the Cliftons bad the advantage; they AVei-e there when called upon, and strenuously Avarding off tb© most_ vigorous of attacks from the op- ' position, gained the verdict by about two feet. • It Avas really a gallantlyconducted contest, one AA rell Avort'h going miles to Avitness.. and1 all honours to the winners.
