A-AVIN FOR, THE HUTT XL UB

( w as a field aay on the Wellington Bowling Club's pietty green in Wordswoi-th Street, tho oicasion being a triangular contest between two teams each rrom the Wellington, Hutt, and Wanganui Clubs for a very handsome silver cup, selected by Mr. Joh-i Duthio (\yho has been connected, and still retains an interest, in all three clubs) on his recent visit to the Old 'Country. The cup is to be competed for annually, but under the rules laid down is not to become the property of any one club. For this year the proud possessors are the Hutt Club's representatives, who were in a winning mood oil Wednesday afternoon.

In' tho first round Wellington met, alid were defeated by, Wanganui after a' splendid game. The_teams tied on tho aggregate score on the last head. Another head resulted in another tie; and still another heai saiv matters no further advanced. On the third attempt, Wangarivu" won. Thtv following were the scores:—■

This left tho Wanganui-lintt inatoii' as the^ final. Tho. latter made no race of it.; and won practically as they liked. It was' decided that play should ceasoat 6.30 p.m., when about sixteen heads had. been plas;ed (which accounts for the small scoring). Tho result was ;is follows:—
