THE FLANAGAN-STEPHENS' MISSION.
/" 1 her© was a very lar«e audieitce at the Opera Housa last evening, when the mrsiqn continued. Mr J. H. Stephenscontributed the solo "The Four' Calls t>f tho Spirit" with fine effect and the.' Rev J. Flanagan preached, taking; as his tesjt John 111., 34^ "He giv^th not--the Spirit by Measure." Ths sermon was ■by far the most able the rev gentleman has yet delivered. Tho measure-' less of the gifts of God—that was the thought that he drove home by parable/ and illustration, and by story. Oarlyle was used to give point to his anpeal. - The man enriched, comfortable, deput- __._§# to give as richly -as he had received out his miserable trifts until 'men cursed ihim, and his prince, was sketched to the life, and each present somehow felt "Thou are the man." Then illustration and story drove the point still deeper, unt'l the conscience stood accused1 of miserliness nnd indifference to the needs of men while enjoying the blessings of heaven for ourselves." Th,e address Was inteuselv- dramatic and searching, and th° ]ar<re audience was held to tho end. Mr Fl'i^agan will lecture tihis evening on '"Fourteen Years in Darkest London." His Worship the Mayor will preside.
