A meeting of the Wanganui Centre of the N.Z. Amateur S.vimming- Aesocuttion was held. last Tuecday night, Mr Saynor S. Griffiths presiding, there being present Messrs H. M. Payne, Rev Jacob. Geo McLean, H. Dunkley, H. Smith, M. Hogan, junr., E. Perrett and thn Secretary (C. D. Campbell.) It was decided to grant medals for school childrens' lifesaving competitions as follows:— New Plymouth A.S. Club 4 Stratford A.S. Club 4, Hawera A.S. OJub 4, Taihape A.B. Club 4, Feildins A.S. Club 4. Kimbolton A.S. Club 4, and Wanganui competitions 6. The local competitions to be held—Girls' on "the 19th inst., and Boys' on the 21st inst., commencing at 2.30 p.m. .The elites fixed for the schcol boys' championship was the 28th March, and for the school girib' championship the 27Vi March.
The conditions of these competitions are—Open to" all scihool. chilcjrin from Palmerston to New Plymouth, inclusive, under .14. years of age* Tha competitor scoring the ■.highest: number of points in four races—viz., 25. 50. 75, and 100 yards--to ba awarded the N.Z.A.S. Association's medal. The competitor scoring the next highest aggregate to. b« awarded, the N.Z.A.S. Assopiation/s silver medal.
Entries for these events close on the 21st inst.
Proficiency certificates are now beine: granted to school children (boys or girls), who swim straiglit out 220 yards or over. Headmaster's ccrtifirate; stating; that performances az'obona; fides must be sent, in with application to the Centre Sscretarv. .
