WANGANUI CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL
A meeting of the committe of the above was held at the Council Chambers last evening, Mr. Bignell presiding. Routine 'business was dealt with. The matter of continuing was discussed, and it was decided to hold the matter over- for the present.
Tho secretary of the Wanganui hotelkeepers forwarded a cheque for £5 towards the debit balance. A vote oi thanks was unanimously passed to the Association.
Mi-. C. E .Mackay proposed, and Mr. Bignell seconded, that a wire be sent to W. Webb, /wishing him success in the forthcoming match. Both gentleman dwelt upon the fact that but fnr the Carnival Committee Weibb would probably not have had this opportiunity of competing for the championship, as by giving 'him the opportunity to raw Stanbury he at once claimed front rank. This view was endorsed by Messr.s W.-L. Young and J. S. Palmer, and all tho speakers expressed their best wishes for his success. —Carried.
A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
