A POPULAR COMMISSIONER.

HOKITIKA, July 10
A presentation of a substantial purse of sovereigns was made to-night to Mr. G. J. Roberts, Chief Surveyor for-West-land, in recognition of the splendid^services rendered by him as West Coast Commissioner for the late International Exhibition. Highly appreciative wires were received from the Premier, tho Hon. Fowlds (Minister in charge of the Exhibition)'. Mr. T. Seddon, M.H.ft., ajjdMrs. Seddbn. Tfhe Mayor of Hokitika made the presentation, and eulogistic addresses were given by the Acting County Chairman, the Mayor of Rces, and many others.
