A STRANGE OCCURRENCE.

"WELLINGTON,- August 29. The signalmen.at ■Wellington Heads reported to-day that an open boat containing a man was adrift off the Heads. A tug was sent out from the port, but after steaming about for a few hours returned to port without having seen anything of the boat. The captain of the tug thinks that the beat must have been swamped before he got out to sea. •DTJNEDIN, August 29. A coroner's inquest was held touching the fire on the 7th inst., which resulted in the partial destruction of .premises in King Street occupied by Robert Mori, .a tinsmith. The jury, by 4 to 2, returned a verdict that the premises were destroyed by fire, butt-here TVafl no direct evidence to show' how the fire originated. The jury cohsiderered the surrounding circumstances of a, very suspicious nature.
