1.0.0. F., M.U.

The annual meeting of the Wanganui district, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held on Friday last, >at Apiti. The secretary's report on the various lodges was as follows: — DISTRICT LODGES. Loyal Wanganui Lodge, Wanganui.— The total funds of tins Lodge amount to £14,861, a gain of £377 for the year, notwithstanding the sum of £410 was paid away in sick claims—a slight increase of £24 on last year. The funds are •well invested, no less than £5133 being lent on mortgage, £9455 invested in freehold property, and the balance, £273, in bank -awaiting investment. £697 was received during the year for rents and interest, which is an increase of £91. I regret to say that the membership of this (Lodge is not increasing as one would expect in a Lodge so well situated in a 'large centre. Loyal Manawatu Lodge (Palmerston North).—The total funds are £2957, an increase of £1040, .after allowing for £130 paid away on sick claims, which is £28 less than the previous year. Bents and interest produced £100, £11 less 1 than the year 'b&fore. This Lodge has £1200 out <at interest, £51500 in hall property, and the balance in the bank at call awaiting investment. The membership stands at 235, a gain of 60 for fhe year, as against 19 and 36 for the preceding years. . Loyal Apiti Lodge (Apiti).—Total funda £503, an increase of exactly £100, as against £88 the preceding year. £20 has been paid away in sick claims, £5* less than last year. Loyal Awaa-ua Lodge (Ohingaiti.)— Total funds are £514, an increase of £42, as .against £67 the preceding year. £32 was expended on sick pay, as against the small amount of £18 the previous year. Loyal (Rangitikei Lodge (Mangaweka). —Total funds £437, an increase of £104, as against £72 the preceding year. £67 was paid away in sick claims, which is a great increase on the £25 paid out the year before. This iLodge has only £100 out on mortgage, £93 in Lodge property, and the balance, something like. £240, in the Post Office Savings Bank. I should like to see this money invested; at a higher rate than the Post Office Savings Bank. Loyal Manchester Lodge (Feilding).— The total funds are £885, an increase of £116, as against £50 the preceding year. The sick claims paid away amounted to £50, as against £80 the pa-erious year. Loyal lHautapu Lodge (Taihape).—l am pleased to see that this Lodge, after languishing for so many years, has, through the appointment of a new sec.retary (Bro. Anso), awakened to a sense of its importance, and has, through the growth of membership within the last twelve months, attained a more important position in the district., The funds are £155, an increase of £37. Only £15 has been paid out for sickness, £5 in excess of last year. "•" Loyal Mataroa Lodge (Mataroa). — This young Lodge was only opened a little more than 'twelve months ago, and ia gradually •building up a fund and membership. It is pleasing to note that only one claim for sickness, £3 os, was made on the Lodge-during the year. Loyal Bunnythorpe Lodge (Bunnythorpe).—This young Lodge was only opened .a few months ago, hut they have £4/5 of funds and 36 members. Great interest is taken 'by the members. They have provided themselves with a set of officers' regalia, and make every endeavour to popularise the Order. Next year I hope to present a report of great progress in members and funds. Loyal Hunter ville Lodge (Hunterviile).—This is our youngest Lodge, only opened a few months, but it is vigorous, and anxious to male good progress. The funds are £19 and the membership 26. .The strength of the Wanganui district is as follows :— |'-I -£s-.i '■-■-■'■■■■■■•... ■ "- ■ » to &V> m ■•I.'/..;-/ :r-A.-:'x . a..,• ?,.,:■ ?■'?■■.:; ° ; r-i'o;> .t-r^.n., C-y':r-' ' " ' '-"■£ '..' £' 230, ~,9: ,14,861 377 :Palmer%ron --~ " 235. 60f. 295T ,104 C <Feilding-vA; .117. ,'3l -885 116 •.. i ' 106 -23 V• , 437 104 ApitT *<>->#• i -„".;6fi : -.5.,.-., 503 100 Talhap^ \ ..; 60 41 155 37 'Ohifcg&tti- -^ '43 6 514 42; :*Bnrinyfchorpe; 39 „. 39 46 46 t Mataroa-..i. 32 . 6} . 41 >*H«riteWin©B ;. 26 19 19 tfMsfcrtet Funds . .... fr , .-.- 222- .;, ' '^ :~954 '1j46 20~675 1922 xij-aT *New lodges.
