NELSON, January 29. Mr John Ford, an old settler, of Waimea West, was found dead in one of •his paddocks this evenings Evidently he had broken a blood vessel. He arrived in Nelson in 1842. He was aged 74 ASHBURTON, January 29. Frank McCafferty, a farmer, at Lyndhurst, died tto-day as the result of injurijes reoedved on Thursday, when his horse bolted and collided ivith a gate poet.
