SWIMMING.

GIRLS' COLLEGE SPIRTS

The annual swimming sports of the Girls' 'College were held in the new swimming baths.' yesterday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of lady spectators. The various events were keenly contested, and capital work was done, but no records were broken. A heavy shower gave occasion for an interval during which the guests adjourned to the gymnasium and admired some exquisitely neat plain sewing and darning; the work of Miss Knapp's and MisJ Beckingsale's pupils, and some .very creditable .drawings and paintings shown by Mr. Hutton's and Miss Browne's pupils. Afternoon tea was handed round by the; pupils. Mr. Olds deserves great credit for the rapid pro^ gress made by his classes. Mist* Fraser desires to-thank the friends whol gave prizes for the various events. The following is the prize list:— ■ i ' Beginners' Race (Miss Blennerhassttt's prize.—D.
