MR MASSEY'S MEETING.

It is scarcely necessary for us to remind the electors of Wanganui. that the Leader of the Opposition is to speak to them at the "Drill Hall to-night. Mr Massey is the fighting chief at tihe head of the forces arrayed against the Government, and ; .as such heis entitled .to, and will, we feel sure, receive, a hearty welcome and a flair hearing. But it is ac a man, as well as a party leader, that '-Mr Massey will be welcomed by the people of Wanganui. In the House he has earned the esteem of supporters and opponents alike, and on the hustings he has won the plaudits of the people by hisstraightfcrw'ard-always-hit-above-the-belt style of fighting. His southern campaign during >the last reoess was a series of triumphs.' His appearance in Auck-: land last week,l <when he replied tothe Premier, -was made the occasion of one of the greatest political demonstrations ever held in the northern city. The Opera House was crammed to its utmost capacity, and Mr Maesey was called upon to address an overflow meeting of upwards of 300 people outside the building. The Premier has been aocus.tomed t-o having it all his own way, and in order to keep on having it he endeavoured to'tie,'Mi* Massey up in his own constituency.. JBtut Mr (Maasey is here,-at-no cost to the taxpayers, be it noted, and the people of Wanganui will be as pleased to"- welcome him as he will be to irieeifc ;them,.; Unfortunately the Opera House was not available, and Mr Massey will hiave to speak in the Drill Hall. 'However, that building will be well furnished, with seating accommodation, and we have no. doubt that, large as: it iis, it, will "be crowded to its utmost capacity.
