WELLINGTON, October 31. At the 'City.Boiliice Court, to-day, James Williams, a native of Mauritius, was remanded till November 6th on a charge of landing in the colony, he 'being .a prohibited immigrant. It appeared tltoat the man came to the colony from Sydney as cook of the steamer Blenheim", (having shipped at Sydney for the run over. The remand was granted in. order that the defendant anight bdflPfeturaed to Australia by tho steamer leaving on Saturday. At the Arbitration Court, to-day, the WeHingban-Haveiock-lMo't'ueka Steamship Company was fined £5 for having fiailed to pay a seamen employed cm the Manaroa .overtime while working at Bays in Pelorous Sound. ,
The Agriculturally. Industrial, and Labour Conference, known as the Parliament, meets at Ohrisbdhureh on February 15th.
The Pufolic Works Department has requisitioned the Lalbouor Department to engage 200 labourers lor work on the central section of the North Island Ma/in Trunk Lime.
