- CHRISTCHURCH, September 15

At a special sitting of the Magistrate.'?! Court this afternoon William Thomson, ?. warder at Sunnyside Asylum, was charged with striking a male lunatic on September 5. Evidence was given that tho accused had struck the lunatic in the face, his injuries consisting of ?. cut lip, bruised eye, and abrasiom on tho face, neck, and hands. The warder was under the influence of liquor at the time, and was dismissed next day. The accused was committed for trinl, ball being allowed in £100 and two sureties ?>i £50 each.
