LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— As the time is rapidly approaching when it will bo your privilege to elect your representative in the next Parliament, 1 do myself the honour of announcing that in response to the request of a large number of electors, I am a candidate for your suffrages. I shall take an early oportunity of laying before you my views on the leading political questions of the day. Jf returned, I shall support all such measures as will in my opinion best conduce to the prosperity of the colony, and the best interests of all its people, regardless of the political party from which such measures might originate. I should be an opponent of the present Government, as, while in my opinion the trend of some of its legislation is in the right direction, much of it is "crude and inequitable, and fails to meet the needs of the times. In the administration of the affairs of the country, 1 fear the Government aim more at securing the freehold of Ministerial office than the truest and best development of the country and its people. Respectfully soliciting your interest and support. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Yours faithfully, W. G. BASSETT.
