Lady 'Gertrude was by Cadogan, son of Cremorne, out of a Tnaducer mare. No Name, who was the dam of Oudeis, winner of the C.J.C. Welcome and C.J.C. Derby. Disowned, C.J.C. Derby and Great Northern Derby, also Nonsense, winner of many races. Stepniak is the sire of Mensehikoff, Kremlin, Boris, Orloff, Madrigal, Petrovna, Ostiak, and a host of others, the stock having won the C.J.C. Welcome Stakes, C.J.C. Betfby, C.J.C. Chiampagn, C.J.C. Being got in Australia, and not (paced owing to an accident, his opportunities were lost to the turf. He is the si<re of Lady Lillian, Phlaethonitis, Aeronaut, Trentbridge, and others. He is a horse of ■commanding size' and substance, stands 16.2, and measures 9 inches below the knee. Phaethon, the only son of Trenton in the colony, will be at the service of breeders.
