MELBOURNE, July 13. The Labour Conference held a long delate on a motion that Federal candidates should sign a pledge not to join uny alliance, unless it obtained the sanction of the combined labour organisations. It was eventually resolved that the Federal Labour Party enter no alliance extending beyond the life pf thp Parliament during which it was contracted. The Conference adopted a resolution repudiating with indignation the charges that the labour movement was endeavouring to weaken the sanctity of the marriage tie and undermine the foundations of religious belief.
