COURTS.

THE AMBERLEY ROBBERY

Per Press Association

WELLINGTON, July 13. The judgment of the Appeal Court in Rex v. Allendale and Dennett was unanimous against the prisoners. The Chief Justice said the evidence was not only sufficient to entitle the jury to conviict Allendale, but if they had not tho verdict would have been unreasonable. As to Dennett, the case was sonrewhat different, but the evidence was of such a character that the onus was cast on him of showing where he waa at the time of the robbery and explaining other matters which connected him with it That onus had not been discharged. There was, therefore, evidence on which the jury could pr<*perly ; convict Dennett also. Judges • Williams, Edwards, and Cooper also delivered written judgments, examining the evidence at length and arriving at the same conclusions. The motion for; a new trial was dismissed.
