WANTED—A WARM WINTER
B \TH
To the Editor.
Si.', —If there is anything we have to complain about in Wanganui at the present time it is the want of a warm plunge bath for the winter months. I personally view with interest the effort.'i which aro being made by a numl»v of tho community regarding these bat ha, and I believe the Borough Council havo been waited upon by a deputation, to sco what can be done in tl'.j matter. In Dunedin, by tho iray, they havo the two city baths warmed, and .they remain opan thoughout the white/, and they aro supported by the public just the same as the odrinary cold water baths in summer. Wellington has two city baths going all the year round, but they are not warmed in winter, and yet they are well attended by old and young. Several of us have been bathim; in tho river up to tho end, of May, but havo given it up .on account of tho silt and mud, which is not very entertaining after a dip. Then there is so much broken glass and broken bottler; about, which is very dangerous. I trust that tho Council wiil be ablo to grant the request of the deputation, ay I fail to see -what is to prevent encouraging this most health-giv-inc; pastime; and, as cleanliness is next to godliness, I wish the deputation every success.—l am, etc., A.
