We are pleased to learn that Misses Alice Gordon and Janet Neilson, of the Wanganui Hospital staff, have passed their final Government examination entitling them to. a nursing certificate. Ensign BurkettJe, of Newton (Auckland), has been appointed to the charge of r the local branch, of the Salvation Army in succession to Adjutant Henry. ; A Whangarei wire aanounces the death of Mr John Munro, aged 76, the father of a one-time member "of the Auckland Provincial Council. D^eceased was the first- Customs officer at Whangarei Heads.
Mr. W. F. Massey, leader of the Oppos'ti'on, and member for Franklin, wiLl go South abouti Easteir time, and address public meetings on political maitters in Dunedin and one of the inland towns.
The Conutess of Onslow, after doing the Southern Lake district, goes through the Otira Gorge from Christchurch to Reeftion, and thence ovso-iiand to Nelson. The Countess then returns to the North Island, journeying from Auckland to Sydeny, where she will rejoin the R.M.S. Ortoma at tfoa end of February, en route for Engliand. - ■ Sergsiant Siddells, of Gisborne, >and Acting-Detective Fahey ha.ye' been promoted to the rank of detectives. The former will be stationed at Palmeirston Nbiitli^ vice -Detective Maddi&rn, to be transterred to Wangjanui. Det&ctave Bishop, of Wanganui, goes to Christbliur'ch, wheate he relieves Detective Fahey, who will be stationed in Auckland. Constable Lapdell, of Wellington, has been apointedto.the charge of the Finger-print Department in Dunfedin.
