An Adelaide cable says —The new barAlexa (Messrs Hatrick and -Co.'s), fbound from London, "to Wiangaiiui, has put in for repairs. The steering gear carried away on November 26; when the ship was 4000 miles from Adelaide, necessitating a temporally tiller ibeing shipped. This was also carried ■«way, ana a ju-ry rudder had to.be fixed? '"•She met'witib. continuous iheavy Wieather, and was much 'buffeted.
The barque Itala, from Liverpool, arrived at Wellington jm- Sunday night. 'iShe experienced rough weather on the voyage, and on December 10 an A.B. mamed Hyland, who was enigaged in stowing the jib, was washed off the jib"tMJom and drowned. Nothing could be to assist the unfortunate man owing to the high sea running. Deceased iwas formerly a seaman on the barque ":Northern Monarch, "which was wrecked Patea about 16 months ago.
