DUNEDIN, December 2. There was a prolonged discussion at tlie meeting of tho University Endowment Fund Committee, as to whether £3QDQ of tOie money in hand should be given to the University Council, to enabiiO it,. with a grant of £2000 from the ■Government, to proceed with the erection of the buildings for the • chair of physiology, in connection with the medical school. ' The fallowing money had been collected by an appeal to the public—£2lßß by the "Daily Times," and £1394 by the committee. A motion was submitted to accede to the request of the University Council for a sum not exceeding £3000. Mr. G. Fenwick doubted whether, they were entitled by the trust to the grant of money, which had beeon. collected to p'iace their finances on a, Bound footing by the liquidation of the debt on the University, and he moved that the decision be deferred until the committee had opportunity Of consulting the subscribers.- On Mr. John Roberts' suggestion, an amendment was embodied with the motion, which "was then passed, with the addition tihat the iresolution be submitted to a meet'n-g of th>a subscribers to bo held/anUio 13th intibant.

Withthe instialmenta y©b to come, the total fund is £3885 15s. In addiition to this, over £800 vraa collected'-.by. iiho "Eranmg' Star," which "went to liquidate the University Council's ojerdntffr. ■- ■'- . ;
