The Boulder Deep Levels Commission's reporfc animadverts on the ;lax supervision over assay samples, -and the incorrectness of assays, either caused by sail ting or by falsification, of the books--. The Commissioners, commenting on share transactions consequent on an alleged rich discovery, state that Frank Gardner, chairman ■of directors, held 170,000 out of 230,000 shares issued, and the balance was apparently bald in London. Several mine officials, as well asi Harold Vickers, who.mad© all the assays from the deep levels of the mine, had dealt in shares, and the report accuses Viekers of having deliberately perjured •himself in giving evidence before the Commission. Vickers gave information with, references to an assay to Francis Eary sufficient:, to effect, a considerable share deal on their joint account. The report "con-dudeis; that although perhapsl the actual!' modus ©perandi of the frauds is not disclosed, the Commissioners-trust that, sufficient has been, brought to light concerning the practices! which obtained1 in the Boulder Deap Level to indicate how such an occurrence may, to some extent, be guarded against In the future.
