FOOTBALL.

WANGANUI RUGBY UNION

The Management Committee of the Rugby Union met last evening, there being present—Messrs L. Basset* (in. the chair), A. W. Mountfort, T. Craig, T. Slipper, and W. Hall (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Dr. Reid and Mr G. Spriggens. Minutes. —The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Misconduct.—Tthe caee of two players —'McDonald (Kaierau) and Cottrcll (Pirates) —who were ordered' off thet field in the Third-class match Firateis v. Kaierau, was taken. Mr Beadle, the referee, alttended, and stated that he ordered the two players off for striking one another. He fo'ad warned both teams at; the start of the game, and considered both equally girlty. Cottrell (the Pirate player) appeared before the Committee and gave ■his eltatement of what had occurred. The case was adjourned till next meeting, when McDonald is to appear. Kaierau F.C.—The captain of the Kaierau F.C. junior 'team wrote asking if it was a fact that fthe junior game Kaierau v. Waverley, to 'be played on September 10, had 'been .awarded to Waverley by default. He considered ho had* not received -official noticethat the match was to be played at Waverley. Mr Hair stated that he and Mr Gray (the Fixtures Committee) had notified Mr Brown (the captain of the Kaierau team) on the Monday before the match that the game 'Was-to foe played at Waverley on the following. Saturday. Mr Brown said he did. not think a team would get away, but would not say that they would forfeit the match. The Kaierau team did not go to Waverley. The Waverley Club had asked if they could claim the match, and ho (Mr Hall) informed lihein they could. It Was resolved that, as the Kaiierati team did not visit Waverley on tfbafc date after due notice had been given the captain, the match: be awarded the W-averley F.C.

Awarua Sub-Union Match.—-The secretary submitted arra-nigemeinte made with, regard ito the m'aitoh and the special team. The AHvaraa Union were kindly making; aan-angements for meals. Resolved that the' seoret'aays action be endorsed. Mr Mountfort was appointed manager of the team to visit Awarua. Bush Union. —Correpondence was read with regard to this match. The Bush Union wished the match to be played at \ HJajmua, rieai" Eket'ahun'a-—not at Pahiatua, as understood by this Union, —owing to there bsing no ground available at Palhiatu'a. After some discussion it was decided to play at Eketahuna, and a manager • was app!oint»ed for the trip.
