Received September 1, 9.50 a.m. MELBOURNE, August 1. Before the Butter Commission, Mr. Thomas Webb, ex-Minister of Agriculture, and formerly nuanager of the Fresh Food Storage Company, gave evidence. After the scheme to compel the shipping companies to reduce buttea* freigjhta had fa-likta through, agents of the shipping oomipanlies at Home arranged with a [representative of the Bartram Company to pay brokerage at 3 per cent, on all shipments. Baaitiram's agent agreed to pay W>abb one-third of this brokerage. £2700 was paid over in the name of two employees of the Fresh Food Company, with whom Webb divid. cd. Webb admitted that the total amount paid to the shipping companies iin the shape of brokerage mOgh/b have been over £12,000.
