Many of the trains will arrive with only 10 or 15 minute intervals between' them, and the platlorm will have to be cleared after each train, so as to allow of the passengers from the.'next1 train finding standing room. From about 4.30 (after' the Show is over), the trains will commence to leave again, and will continue right on up till 7 o'clock ; and this is where the rush and trouble comes in— keeping passengers from rushing trains, from boarding wrong trains, and from entering trains in motion. Besides trains In the direction of Wanganui, Wellington, and Foxton, and the ordinary train through the Gorge, special trains will leave Palmerston North on Friday night for Pahiatua, Featherston. and Napier. JBefore the arrival of the first train on Friday, a general cleaningout of waggons will take place, the sidings at Terrace End, Ashhurst, and Longburn being used to dispose of them | and thus allow standing room for the i enormous number of passenger vehicles to arrive. These waggons will all have to be brought in again on Saturday, 21st. Nearly the whole of the Palmerston North* staff will have to be on duty about 3 a.m. on Saturday to assist in the despatch of stock and other exhibits, and by mid-day nearly the whole of the livo stock exhibits will have been got away. In past years everything has worked satisfactorily, thanks to the vigilant foresight and watchful carefulness of Mr Smith, the Palmerston North stationimt.ster. With the generalship displayed by Mr Whitcombe in the preparation of the railway.,. army orders, and tbe executive ability of his adijutant, Mr Smith, in the centre of the field of operations, this week's railway compaign should be carried through with complete success.
