Accidents and Fatalities.

The i.djouuied inquest touching the death i.if Jas. MtlJrkle was resumed to-day. The medical evidence shoved that death was due to peritonitis. There was a rapture of the stomach, which the doctor said could only bo yecovnted for by the supposition of violence direct or indirect.
Thomas1 Henry JJroomneld (deceased s j-on-in-la.w). and -Mrs- Broomfield (daughter) gave evidence that the deceased was violent and noisy on Now Year's Kve, that lie struck Broomfield, who did not retaliate, and in attempting to strike him a second i'mvi deceased fell on his stomach on a heap of stones. Mi's Hioomlield, whose left; aim w powerless and who is a cripple, denied touching the deceased with a crutch. The jury returned a verdict that, death was caused by peritonitis, the effect of a rupture of the stomach caused by violence, but how or by whom the violence was occasioned there was not. sufficient, evidence to show
WELLINGTON, January 6.
At the adjourned inquest .concerning the death of Thomas Pay. aged 60 years, who was killed by beinjr rim over by trucks at j ' the Thorndon raihvav station, a- verdict of accidental death was returned. . . j ,
