A conference of Irish landlords and tenants, presided over by Lord Dunraven, unanimously recommended that State aid .should be given to settle the land difficulty. It was considered that in substitution for dual ownership occupier* should be given proprietary- rights on payment of an equitable price on the basis of their income amounts, to bo guaranteed by the State.
Though the Lord Mayor concurred with the Dunraven Conference, many influential landlords--, including Lord Abercorn and Colonel S'aunderson, did not "attend the •convention. ROME, January 5. The Hon. Senator Hoar has prepared a drastic Bill with the object of controlling trusts in America, forbidding, under heavy penalties, misquotation of prices or entering contracts with combinations directed against outKiclers.
