It is officially announced that Mr Chamberlain, with the King's and Cabinet's approval, at the end of November visits South Africa to examine the problems and confer as to different interests respecting Britain's futin re .policy. ' i He expects to return to England early nj March. Lord Milner cordially approves of the visit. Lord Onslow conducts the routine business while Mr Chamberlain is away, and Mr Austen Chamberlain wilt reply to the colonial questions asked in the House of Commons. The "Times," commenting, says the departure will hardly fail to exercise a profound influence on the future development and consolidation of the Empire, and hopes it will become a precedent for visiting the chief groups of the Empire year by year for the personal investigation of problems. It will accelerate progress, brush aside impediments, and powerfully promote the growth ,of Imperial sentiment in all the colonies. It suggests that Natal deserves the honour of first welcoming Mr Chamberlain to South Africa.
'lue "Daily News" regards the undertaking as the most pregnant mission in Mr Chamberlain's life, and wishes him "God speed."
