The Venezuelan Revolution.

SAN FRANCISCO, September 4,

News comes fromi a, poi"t of Spain (Island of Trinidad),- diated August 31st, from Carupano, Venezuela, that the Gov-ernor-General of Velutani would leave immediately with three gunboats and five hundred) men to bombard a second time Oiudad Bolivar, on the Orinoco' River, which is still in the hands of the revolutionists. Ciudad BoJ'ivar is the capital of the State of Bolivar, and wa« bombarded by Venezuelan gunboats last week, and many persons -were' killed or wounded. About six hundred shells were fired into the city, which lias more than ten thousand inhabitants. Btfitishi subjects have requested a warship of Great Britain to be sent for their protection. Despatches of the same date confirm the earlier report.

Five hundred! and fifty men, who formed the vanguard of the Government forces near Oeupare, cfeserted to the revolutionists. They took their arms and equipments with them, asndi carried their chief, General Castello, prisoner to the enemy.

The troops Avhioh have reached that point will ba at once despatched to> Aqua Duicc, and it is believed General Horrera, of the insurgents, will not be able to resist the attack of the "Sirmy which the Goversnient is able to send against him.

It is reported from Washington that Colombia will formally demand of Nicaragua an explanation as to the latter country's alleged participation in tlhfi) revolution against the Colombian Government, and will back up the demand with, the most formidable land and naval force she can muster, as soon as the present rebel activity on the Isthmus has been crushed. This occasions surprisle, as it is but a few weeks' since the announcement that the Nicara-guan and' Colombian Ministers had established an entente cordiale between their respective Governments, that bygones were to be regarded as bygones1, and the time was ripo fotr a satisfactory •understanding between the two peoples.
