PALMERSTON N., September 23

John Clarke Sutherland', who* was killed at Kairanga yesterday by a tree falling on his tent while deceased was inside writing, was a native of Motueka, Nelson, aged 17 years. Hid 'masters Avei"e absent at the time, and on returning to, the tent found deceased pinned to the ground by the tree, life being extinct.
