MASTERTON, September 22. A man named Patter Quillice, a platelayer, when returning home from work and riding on a tvolly, came into collision with a goods train on Saturday evening. The force of the collision threw him clear of the line. With the exception of an ear.tarn off, he received no other apparent injury. He was taken to the Greyfovn Hospital, The accident occurred near the Matarawa station. It was a very dirty night, and the man neither saw nor heard" the approaching trait). THAMES, September /H. Henry Gillespie, an old resident of tho Thames, dropped down dead to-day outside his residence at Parawai. The supposed cause of death was paralysis of the bni/Tn. . AUCKLAND, September 22.
The little girl named Nereida Moses, who was accidentally given a poisonous powder last Saturday in mistake for liquorico powder, is now out of danger. To-day a telegram was. received that Arthur Warbrick, ferryman at Ohiwa. River, O.potiki, had been washed out to sea. and; drowned. The deceased was employed by the County Council to ferry passenger | across the mouth of the river, nearly c mile broad at this point. During Saturday's storm a. tree was up rooted near Huntly. It felt on and killed a native. DANNEVIRKE, September 22.
