MR. KETTLE'S POPULARITY.

To the Editor.

Sir, —In your issue of Saturday a correspondent, "A Moderate Man," takes up the role of defender for Mr. Kettle, anrl refers to him as "our popular, useful, most estimable District Judge, and as having done more for the community than any other man or men." Could abject fulsomeness go further? Is it not a fact that Mr. Kettle is the reverse of popular? Tiiafa ho has done anything at all for Waaganui is, I am sure, news to most people. If his upholder can substantiate his claijns for Mr. Kettle, then, now that he is challenged, he should certainly do so, or at any rate point to one single matter originated by Mr. Kettle tha^ has been of benefit to the community.—l am, etc., CITIZEN.
